Here's a little peak into my day.

Honestly, the hardest part about my job is fighting the constant distraction of Pepper's cuteness. My most productive days are the two a week she spends at doggie school.

In all seriousness, I love what I do. I love creating the brands that act as the backbone of a business; and I love putting that onto websites that help women make more money so they can live whever kind of lifestyle they want.

So whether your distraction is your cute pup, a family that takes a lot of your attention, or something less positive... stay focused and keep going after the shit that gets you where you know you deserve to be.

The REAL reason I chose the beauty industry… and then to be a designer.

The freedom. I worked in corporate America for a good chunk of my early adult life, and let me tell you…I hated it. I hated the rules, the schedules, and the authority. I despised having to ask off work to relax or spend time with my family and I desperately wanted a career that gave me freedom.

The beauty industry gave me that. I wasn’t one of those stylists who cut her dolls hair as a kid or knew I wanted it from an early age. It never came natural to me. I got pretty good at it, but I chose it because of the perks. Being a hairstylist allowed me family time, to do all the traveling I loved, and working for myself gave me the freedom that my soul needed.

What did come natural to me was all the things I did in the beauty business. I was great at the customer experience, the communications, the marketing, and I was damn good at the branding and web design. So when it was time to make the career shift, I knew I could never give up that freedom.

I’ll always work for myself. I’ll always be reaching for the ‘what’s next’. Entrepreneurship is in my blood.

So, here’s to all my entrepreneurial women going after whatever the fuck it is you want.

Although the list could never be complete, here are 3 things you should NOT have on your website:

✍️ A blog- if it shows you haven’t made a post in a long time. Nothing says “I don’t keep up with my website” more than a blog on full display and the last post was literally years ago. If you’re not going to keep it updated, just delete that shit.

📷 Photos of yourself that aren’t professional level and high-quality. If you’re not willing to invest in yourself and your business enough to get professional photos for your website, why would potential clients be willing to invest in you? Show your audience that you’re worth it

📰Too many words- Nobody wants to read through paragraphs of text. While there is a lot of info that needs to be relayed to your guests, bite-sized content is much easier on the eyes and keeps your audience engaged.

Are your efforts to connect with your audience failing?

Here's 3 possible reasons:

1. Not truly knowing your audience.
The more you understand your potential clients, the more you can help find solutions to their problems. What do they want and need? What are their struggles and pain points? Keep learning about them.

2. Doing what your competitors are doing.
Just because it worked for them doesn't mean it'll work for you. Maybe their target market is totally different from yours. Maybe they've had to take a lot of steps to get to where they are now. And what you see on the surface isn't always real- maybe what they're doing isn't actually working for them at all.

3. Not letting your audience see the real you.
People want real connection and if they see a facade you present, then they can't get that. Nobody's perfect. Forget perfectionism and let your flaws show and you'll have a better connection with your audience.
